Tumaini festival: Festival of Hope
Daughter’s band, Konkalazi band, Neil and the New vibration have been confirmed as headliners for the yet to be confirmed Tumaini festival.
Tumaini is a Swahili word, meaning, ‘hope’ and Tresor Nzegu, a Congolese living in Malawi, has organized it. The festival is organized for refugees living at Dzaleka refugee camp, as a way of giving them a platform to share their lives with the rest of the country.
All three bands are products of Music Crossroads Malawi. The Daughters band is the only female band in Malawi, and they are in a series of perfomances and events to encourage female participation in the music industry in Malawi. Neil and the New vibration is a new and up coming band who are set to launch their album later in August. Konkalazi are the winners of the 2012 Music Crossroads Competition, famous for their funky “Afro-funk fusion”.
Tumaini festival has been scheduled for the 22nd of November.
You can find them and follow them on their Facebook page.
