Music Crossroads is happy to announce that our project “Creative Training for Youth: Europe-Africa has been selected as a Success Story by a panel of experts from the European Commission.

Based on the quality, impact, creative approach and innovative results, our project was awarded this “Success Story” label. In addition, it was categorised as a Good practice example”, which means it was “particularly well managed and can be a source of inspiration to others”. We are very proud of this accomplishment and the recognition by the DG for education, youth, sport and culture of the EC, of our hard work and that of our partners, which serves as a big motivation boost to continue benefiting the youth we work for.

The project successfully delivered training to 100 talented young people on best practices in the areas of Audio Engineering, Cultural Management, Instrument Build and Repair, as well as Teacher Training for trainees from our 3 Music Crossroads Academies. Between 2016 and 2017, the two campuses took place in Zimbabwe and Malawi, with the aim to empower youth by delivering music and capacity building training, to develop the much needed technical skills to improve their ability to generate income and improve their livelihood in the creative industry.

Both campuses were concluded with high-level showcase concerts, which brought together all the participants on stage to showcase their newly acquired skills to the public. 20 short learning tutorial videos were also developed during the project, that has allowed the taught skills and knowledge to be accessible to a wider public.
