‘I have never find something good as music in my entire life’
Lynne Mussah, the student behind Harmony; Questions and Model Answers and Keyboard Harmony; Questions and Model Answers Pamphlets is a music enthusiast at the Academy in Malawi. His ever-growing passion for music inspired him to pursue a music career, soon after completing his secondary education. Enrolling with Music Crossroads Academy was Lynne’s dream come true. According to him, music is all that he ever wanted to do.
Having realised that lessons at the Academy basically rely on Worksheets, Lynne came up with the Questions and Model Answers Pamphlets to supplement the available teaching materials. Even though, the pamphlets are a work in progress, some students have already benefitted from them. For instance, a week before the final Global Music Academy examinations which were administered from 22nd – 26th June, 2015, some students used the Pamphlet to study in readiness of the exams. Some created study cycles for group discussions and the Pamphlets played a central role as a primary text for their discussions.
‘I have produced the Pamphlets not only to supplement the available teaching materials but also as a token of appreciation to the school that taught me music. Fees at the Academy are heavily subsidised; MCA is really making music education accessible, affordable and quality isn’t compromised that’s why I had to create the Pamphlets to help advance the vision of the Academy’.
It appears; Mussah has found his satisfaction in music through his Pamphlets and wants more people of his standing to benefit from his creation. The Head teacher, Mr. Stephen Liphesa, expressed excitement with the Pamphlets and currently, helping him to come up with a complete product. The MCA Administration is thrilled with such a first of its kind ever since the Academy started and is willing to help the student produce quality work and publish it.
Lynne’s dream is produce pamphlets, for all the subjects that are taught at the Academy. When published, many music students and potential students will benefit from such since he has designed them in such a way that everyone can be able to study them and gain the desired knowledge.
The pamphlets are a good tool of learning more especially, to beginners. After the Preparatory Course, beginners could continue studying on their own in an easy way through the Pamphlets.
Interestingly, this is not the only area where Lynne is competent in. Lynne has a lot to offer to the music industry. Just recently, he was hired to each at Nkhotakota Cultural Center. At the Center, Lynne was hired to conduct Music Workshops and also help their resident band to compose music, to play and on Sound engineering. Other performing artists have also benefitted from his knowledge in Sound Engineering skills since he helps them during their live performance.
