In the framework of the African Music Development Programme (AMDP), Music Crossroads Mozambique, in partnership with International Music Council (IMC), held the 1st and 2nd phase of the Music Management Training.

The workshop took place at Centro de Recursos Juvenis – Mozarte, from the 1st to the 10th of December 2015. The training was facilitated by the well-known music producer José Da Silva, also known as Djo da Silva, from Cape Verde. To mark the end of the successful training, the students attended the Jam Session at Associação dos Músicos Moçambicanos, where the Crossroad’s Girls Band rocked the show.

This course had a participation of 30 people, among them were musicians, producers, and music managers. During the workshop, the participants learned several matters related to music management and also got the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences. According to Djo, the course was a good experience for both speaker and listeners, considering that they had the possibility to both show their talents, but also present their difficulties in order to receive recommendations from more experienced people. The participants also expressed having learnt a lot during these 10 days with Djo, and that they are motivated to work harder on their musical dream.

On the last day, the training was given by Djo da Silva latest signed musician, Elida Almeida. The singer and composer from Cape Verde was discovered by Djo da Silva one year ago and during their collaboration she has proven to be a great talent with much success.

Elida shared stories from her past and different struggles she has had so far in her musical career. This created a picture of where she started and where her hard work has taken her. It both inspired and touched the participants, some even ended up in tears. This dynamic conversation ended with a small performance by Elida and by some of the participants who were eager to show their musical talents. Some of the participants also got the opportunity to perform later in the evening, at the Jam Session session at Associação dos Músicos Moçambicanos. This was also wonderful according to those who were watching the show.

MCA Mozambique is thankful for the training week, which was filled with learning, inspiration and sharing music!
