Erasmus+ supports Europe–Africa collaboration empowering creative youth in Sub-Saharan Africa
Music Crossroads International (MCI) is proud to announce AMPLIFY – Empowering Creative Youth through Europe–Africa Collaborations, an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the Field of Youth project implemented over the next two years to strengthen non-formal music education, youth mobility, and creative entrepreneurship in Malawi, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe, in collaboration with partners in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
AMPLIFY brings together African and European organisations to address structural, digital, and social barriers facing young creatives. It focuses on strengthening the long-term capacity of youth organisations while equipping young musicians, sound engineers, and cultural entrepreneurs with practical skills, networks, and international exposure to support sustainable careers in the creative economy.
Empowering creative youth through hybrid learning and mobility
Building on more than a decade of Music Crossroads’ work through the Music Crossroads Academies, AMPLIFY expands hybrid learning approaches, combining on-site training with digital tools to reach young people in rural and underserved areas. A strong emphasis is placed on gender balance and supporting youth with fewer opportunities.
A central component is the Europe–Africa mobility programme, offering selected African youth professional exchanges in Europe—including activities linked to Brussels and Maastricht—to gain hands-on industry experience, collaborate with European peers, and strengthen cross-cultural networks.
Over the project period, AMPLIFY will directly support:
- 350 youth enrolled in hybrid learning modules across the three academies
- 60 African youth participating in EU mobility
- 30 female participants receiving targeted scholarship-style support to reduce barriers and strengthen women’s participation pathways.
- 72 participants in post-mobility knowledge-transfer sessions delivered at the academies
- 30 staff members trained in fundraising and strategic planning to strengthen organisational sustainability
AMPLIFY is coordinated by Music Crossroads International with Jeunesses Musicales International, Global Music e.V. , and Music Crossroads in Malawi, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.
