In 2013, Music Crossroads Academy was established in Zimbabwe, which to date has enrolled over 506 students. The Academy trains aspiring youth and equips them with practical, contemporary and relevant professional music skills and provides them with access to a wide variety of music platforms in the region. Music Crossroads Academy Zimbabwe specialises in Mbira, Drums, Guitar, Keyboard, Voice, Percussion and has introduced brass instruments such as Saxophone and Trumpet.
After graduation, a number of alumni have gone on to teach at various music schools in and outside of Zimbabwe, some employed by reputable recording studios, and others playing in professional bands, with a considerable number contributing to Arts festivals and other music-related enterprises.
Music Crossroads Academy Zimbabwe has several graduates who have gone on to pursue vibrant music careers. The list of well-known household names of artists in Zimbabwe includes Progress Chipfumo, First Farai, Willom Tight, Bongo Love, Prudence and Liyana Band, Were, Jesa, and international top charting band Mokoomba, to name a few.
This year the annual JM International (JMI) Global Conference and AGA will be hosted in Zimbabwe in September – we look forward to sharing all we have to offer with the world!
