Vedu is an all-female Afro-Pop music band from Zimbabwe. The band consists of lead vocalist Trish Sharara, Anesu Sabeta who plays keyboards, Gwini on bass guitar and Letwin Masiiwa on drums.

The name VEDU is derived from the Shona phrase “Vasikana Vedu “, which means Our Girls. A fitting name for a group on a mission to inspire other female artists and be a supporting voice towards the plight of women in the music industry. Vedu drives their inspiration from yesteryear as well as contemporary greats such as Chioneso Maraire, Busi Ncube, and Zahara to name but a few.

Since their union at Music Crossroads Zimbabwe, the group has gone on to play at major festivals like Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA), Musica, the Harare International Carnival, and even came in second place in the Chibuku Road To Fame Harare Provincial finals.

“We want to tour making Vedu not just a band but a brand, creating music that heals the world,”

Gwini
