Music Crossroads Mozambique embarked on a mission to create an all-female band “The DIVAs”, which would sensitize and raise awareness on the importance of including young girls and women in the music scene, with a special focus on music education. Recently, Music Crossroads Mozambique and The DIVAs started a new project, the LOUD Girls Rock Camp, which has a goal to give evert young girl the opportunity to try and plan an instrument and not follow existing tendencies where girls tend to only sing and dance. The main activity is traveling to primary schools within Maputo and playing for and with the girls, conducting workshops about female instrumentalists, female empowerment, and leadership skills. After months of working with the girls, a camp is held where the young girls from the different schools will meet and share experiences and play instruments together.
