Creative Training Campus 2021: Europe-Africa Collaborative Youth Music Education

In 2021, Music Crossroads successfully implemented an innovative Online Creative Training Campus, bridging music education across Malawi, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. The initiative brought together over 150 talented young musicians and trainers from 9 countries in a unique multi-cultural learning experience.

Key Highlights:

  • Delivered comprehensive training in Audio Engineering, Instrument Build & Repair, and Cultural Management
  • Utilized a hybrid online/local training model with international trainers
  • Provided 12 video call sessions over 6 weeks, allowing for in-depth skill development
  • Included a showcase concert to demonstrate participants’ newly acquired skills
  • Supported the preservation of African musical traditions through the African Real Book project

The program aimed to strengthen the creative economy by building technical and professional capacities among young musicians, enabling them to develop sustainable careers in the music industry.

Participants shared transformative experiences, with many highlighting how the training expanded their understanding of music as a professional discipline and provided opportunities for cross-cultural collaboration.

This initiative was supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, demonstrating Music Crossroads’ commitment to international youth development through music education.
