We received a special visit by Mrs. Sandra Peasen, Ambassador to the EU delegation at our Academy in Malawi. This was her first visit to the project and she was shown around by the director Mr. Gayighayi Mathews Mfune, and had a taste of the various activities that take place at the centre.

During the visit, Academy students were able to perform and showcase their music to the Ambassador. Other groups and bands also performed, and the Ambassador was delighted to witness performances by the Daughters Band, the MOVE alumni band, and the Hear Us Children by joining in one of their traditional dances. It was a great honour to host the Mrs. Sandra Peasen to the EU delegation in Malawi at Music Crossroads Academy, and to be able to showcase performances and activities that take place at the centre. The EU delegation in Malawi has been for a long time a supporter and a partner, so it was therefore a great opportunity to show to the EU delegation how successful the Academy is and how their contributions have helped to develop the students to an even higher level.

The EU delegation in Malawi is supporting Music Crossroads Academy through the programme Erasmus+. The programme has contributed so that the academy students are able to partake in classes and workshops on subjects like: audio engineering, instrument building and repair, and cultural management. The knowledge and skills the students obtain during these kind of workshops are very important for their future endeavours and careers in the music field. Thanks to contributions from the EU delegation in Malawi, the students are able to create business around creative arts, and it works as a stepping stone to opportunities where they can make use of their skills and knowledge. Many of the Academy alumni students are already succeeding in the Malawian music field. As musicians, but also by partaking in the management and organisation of major music events such as Lake of Stars festival and Sand festival. Thanks to the EU delegation, Music Crossroads Academy students have made the training and orientation at the centre more visible in the music world in Malawi.
