Our Music Crossroads Academy in Maputo urgently needs support.
After weeks of unusually heavy rainfall and flooding in central and southern Mozambique, Maputo is facing a serious emergency. Large parts of the city are inaccessible, many families have been forced to leave their homes, and most areas currently have no running water, alongside power outages and communication challenges.
The Music Crossroads Academy Maputo, which for more than ten years has provided music education and a safe space for young people from vulnerable backgrounds, has been severely affected.
Due to the heavy rains, the roof of the academy collapsed in several sections. As a result:
- classrooms cannot be used
- teaching has been suspended
- the building no longer offers safe shelter
For many students, the academy is more than a school.
It is a place of stability, dignity, and community — a home away from home, especially in times of crisis.
What we are trying to do
We want to repair the roof as quickly as possible so the academy can reopen and continue supporting its students.
The estimated cost for the emergency repairs is at least USD 5,000.
How you can help
Every donation — large or small — helps us move faster:
- to secure the building and stop further damages
- to protect students and staff
- to restore a safe learning environment
Photos and further updates from Maputo will be added as soon as they are available.
Thank you for standing with our students and our team during this difficult moment
