From the 13th to the 19th of November 2016, the Music Crossroads Academy in Zimbabwe hosted a Cultural Management Workshop as part of the Creative Training Campus. The Workshop was held in Harare and facilitated by Luc Mayitoukou.

Through field experience examples, participants learned about the characteristics of the music market at local and international level, learned how to develop their networks and how to use the multiple management tools made available through online networks.

“I now understand about managing roles, contract writing and festivals’ planning. We also learned how to use the Internet to promote our work and that’s really going to be useful.”

Relationship between artists and managers, music market, music distribution circuit, touring circuit and other themes were discussed during this Workshop, which was attended by participants from Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

“Interacting with artists from other nationalities helped me understand various aspects of culture management from a different point of view”
