Europe – Africa: Strengthening Collaborative Creative Training for Youth

During 2016 and 2017 the Creative Training for Youth: Europe – Africa (CTYEA) project was successfully implemented in Zimbabwe and Malawi. Two Training Campuses delivered capacity building training to 141 participants from Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. The project aimed to strengthen and build capacity amongst the participants in areas of the music value chain as means of earning an income. After the project, many of the participants have successfully implemented their learnings in their local communities.

After the success of the creative Campuses, Music Crossroads International is happy to announce that the next phase of this project, called Europe-Africa: Strengthening Collaborative Training for Youth (EASCCTY) and it builds on the foundations laid by the previous project.

Between 2019 and 2020 the EASCCTY project will deliver training to over 150 talented youth from Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, who will come together and interact with international trainers from 8 countries at the Creative Training Campus.

In 2019, the multi-cultural Creative Training Campus will take place in Malawi, from 10th March until 13th April, where the participants and trainers will collaborate and work on training in technical skills, such as instrument building and repair, audio engineering and cultural management, seeking to enforce the goal of job creation and income generation for creatives. The campus will also allow for capacity building trainings for music teachers on new instruments and advances areas of innovative teaching techniques. The Creative Training Campus will end with a showcase concert where the participants, together with the trainers, will get a chance to perform their improved skills to a large audience, which will demonstrate the importance of music education and training.

The EASCCTY project is co-funded by the European Union Cooperation (Erasmus+), the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Music Crossroads International and its partners.
