The Academy this year got into a media partnership agreement with Heart and Soul Broadcasting Services (HStv), a subsidiary of Alpha Media Holdings, publishers of Newsday, Standard and Zimbabwe Independent.

The show, Music Box is a weekly 15-minute music show throwing a spotlight on Academy students through stripped-back live intimate music performances which are pre-recorded at HStv studios. It is a space for artists to connect with a wide demographic audience both locally and globally.

The show is a platform for students to profile themselves, promote their brands, projects and other updates. It comprises of a performance of a maximum of 3 songs in the studio. The footage will be edited and broadcast on HStv online platfroms. Unsigned artists, students and some alumni have performed for 4 shows per month.

The Academy continues its popular Kids Inspire. The program tailor made for the 5-17 age range and targets the musically gifted in music instruments such as keyboard, drum and guitar. children who also want to explore and learn more about music have joined the program.

The lessons inspire a dialogue that breaks down academic structures and barriers that separate the music children hear in the classroom from the music they prefer to listen to outside of class.

The Academy has facilitated for these young students to participate in Eisteddfod, a festival by the National Institute of Allied Arts (NIAA). The festival affords children the opportunity to participate and perform in front of international adjudicators who are specialists in their fields, and look forward to their feedback and assessment on their performances.

Music Crossroads along with Zimbabwe Musicians Union (ZIMU) partnered for a music development project called Pamodzi-Issiyo (which means in Nyanja and Japanese, together). A cohort from Japan and Britain led by Kayo Yoshida have roped teachers from the Academy in training music using the instruments, pianica to a batch of students at the Academy.

This year the project continues in its 2nd phase with an all-female participants group. Last year a group of students graduated in the program and this year they envisage to end the project in October.

Imagine Experience rebranded from Imagine International is an all-styles music competition for young artists with the aim of bringing together young people from different music styles to expose audiences to a variety of cultures and forms of music.

Music Crossroads Academy has over the years hosted the Zimbabwe national Imagine competition. Several local bands have gone on to win the Imagine International competition. JESA, Were, Kweseka, Dindigwe, Wenyombwe have all showcased at Imagine international.
