End Of First Quarter Closing Concert
“ I was not sure whether my daughter was studying ‘real’ music at the Music Crossroads Academy. When I sent her to the Academy, I wanted her to achieve her desire to pursue music. Now I am confident that this is the right place for my daughter and other talented young artists. I have seen great talent today! ” said Nonhlanhla’s father, at the end of the concert at the Music Crossroads Academy Zimbabwe.
The performances last week left everyone with fond memories of the day. Every one was treated to the scintillating performances, by school ensembles and other visiting bands. There was a crowd of attendees including parents and friends of students. The academy was even blessed with an unexpected audience, who heard the sound of playing instruments from outside the academy and couldn’t help but come in and join.
Music Crossroads Academy staff, specifically Brian and Tina, with the help of eager students, set up a very wonderful stage for the students to perform. Everything was done above expectations. Sadza Rezviyo, a school ensemble opened the concert with their popular song ‘Wandifungisa Makarekare’. The ensemble comprised of 6 students with veteran drummer named Gomba on drums, followed by ‘Muzima’ another school ensemble. The performance was so polished and electric that the head of pedagogy, Emmanuel was tempted to go straight to the dance floor. Edith and crew (school ensemble) gave a well-polished act, joined by Tina on stage. Together, they did not disappoint. Established bands such as ‘Too Open Band’ fronted by Brian and Afro Love also graced the event. It was the ‘Too Open Band’ Mbira player who displayed his unique Mbira playing skills to the amazement of the crowd.
